Frequently Asked Questions

What does "FTK" mean?
"FTK" is an acronym meaning "For The Kids."

Where is the marathon held?
Floyd Central's Dance Marathon will be located at Floyd Central High School inside the main and auxiliary gymnasium areas.

Where does our total go?
The amount of money we raise through out the year goes directly to Riley Hospital for Children. Half of it goes towards cancer research and the other half goes toward the General Child Life Fund.

Do I have to pay to dance at Dance Marathon?
There is a minimum donation of $20 that is paid when you register to attend online.  This must be paid via a debit or credit card.  If the participant would like a t-shirt, they must fundraise at least an additional $20 prior to DM.  Of course, we always encourage kids to fundraise as much as possible since all money goes directly to the children at Riley Hospital.

What does it mean to be a dancer?
Dancing is only one of the many things you'll be doing while at the marathon. Being a dancer, you stand for those who can't. The goal is be on your feet the whole time. We recognize the kids who strongly fight by themselves.

How does check-in work?
There is a set aside time for check-in before the marathon starts and each table is organized by grade. There, you will simply say your name as volunteers check you off the list. You will then receive your two bracelets and your t-shirt.

Can I register at the door?
If you forgot to register in advance you are able to register at the door. Just go to your class table during check-in and ask to fill out a registration form along with your donation. You will still receive your two bracelets but you will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Do I have to turn in my donation when I turn in my registration form?
You can if you have your donation read. However, you can turn in your donation at the door.

How do I raise money?
There are several different way to raise donations. Many people try babysitting and put the money they made towards their total. Or just make some phone calls to your friends and family to tell them what Riley's and FCDM is about. Use social media to your advantage!Getting the word out is crucial, you never know who you'll inspire to donate.

Will there be food provided during the night of?
Yes, we have multiple restaurants who donate food. During each "Breakout" session we provide restaurant selections such as Texas Roadhouse, Beef 'O' Brady's, Taco Bell, Red Lobster, Panera Bread, etc. (If you have any food allergies they should be listed in your form during registration.)

How can I be involved if I cannot attend Dance Marathon?
FCDM spends the entire year preparing for our Dance Marathon. In that process, there are multiple fundraisers during different times of the year. For more information on our annual fundraisers, go to our "Fundraising Events" page.
